wrong fuel boat

Boats and Planes

Its not just misfuelled cars that need fuel drains. last week we had to do a fuel drain on a boat on the Thames, an unlucky sailor had put 25 litres of diesel on top of 400 litres of petrol, it was a petrol boat.

Luckily the boat hadn’t been sailed and the mistake was noticed early, we attended within the hour but due to the amount of wrong fuel onboard and the lift (pumping hight from the boat to our van) was 5 metres it took several hours to do.

The fuel drain was completed and the happy sailor was on his way, i’m sure that next time he will be a bit more carefull when filling up

Planes, we havent done a plane yet, but we do allot of cars that go on planes, once every couple of months we attend a client in heathrow who sends out high performance armoured cars and a certain brand of car that is far from cheap to the middle east, the trouble is, the dealer delivers the car with a full tank, but a car cannot go on a plane with any fuel in it so we have to do a total drain down, the first time we did this was at 4am one morning a few years back when a planes pilot refused to let the car be shipped while it was fuel’d up, and we did a fuel drain on the tarmac!, nowadays we know far in advance when a car is going to ship and we can do it at a sociable hour.

We have also done fuel drains for international relief agencies who send out vehicles to disaster zones.

So if your freelander is sitting at pump number 5 with the wrong fuel on it… give us a call, we have dealt with much worse!

Thats enough from me
